NDIS Overview

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is Australia’s largest reform to the way supports are provided to Australian’s living with a disability. The NDIS scheme supports people living with a significant and permanent disability which affects daily life. The NDIS is delivered by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

The Aim of NDIS

The NDIS aims to provide care and support for people with a permanent disability and improve the outcomes for participants by funding reasonable and necessary supports that allow the participant to participate in daily life and activities as well as build on skills to enable participants to re-join the workforce or maintain employment if possible.

The NDIS does not provide funding for supports that are provided under other services, however NDIS providers will assist you if required to access those services.

Supports to participants are delivered by providers who are required to register with the NDIA to provide services to participants and are audited regularly to ensure that the services they are providing meet the required standards.

ABC Aged and Disability Services is a provider of supports. When you engage ABC Aged and Disability Services to provide a carer or nurse you can rest assure that they are fully qualified, have a current and clear police check and have passed a Working with Children’s check.
